According to a press release by the High Point Police Department on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at approximately 4:54 PM, High Point officers came in contact with a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza who reported he had been robbed by five male suspects while he was making a delivery to a house at 633 Paramount St. According to police that house was recently vacated. ASHEBORO NC (RANDOLPH COUNTY ARTS GUILD) - As the COVID-19 cases in Randolph County continue to rise, the 48th Annual Fall Festival committee and Randolph Arts Guild Board of Directors has been receiving guidance and regular updates from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Randolph County Public Health, and Randolph Health. Everyone from our vendors, attendees, sponsors, and downtown merchants have been affected by this pandemic. Ongoing discussions have been difficult and complex. Sadly, we have ultimately decided that it is in the best interest of the community to cancel the 2021 Fall Festival, October 2 – 3, 2021, due to COVID-19 for the second year in a row. ASHEBORO NC - A local man is in jail under a one million dollar bond after Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office say he was found with a missing/runaway child and child pornography. According to a press release by the The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, their Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip that an individual by the name of Ethan William Colbert was distributing child pornography and that he was engaged in sexual relationships with juvenile females. On August 16th, 2021, Deputies received a call about a missing/runaway child. The Sheriff’s office says that the child was located with Colbert. According to a press release by the NC Highway Patrol, at 6:53 PM on Sunday, September 19th, 2021, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-85 near Hopewell Church Road in Randolph County. Troopers say a single vehicle traveled off the roadway to the left, went down into the median and overturned. The vehicle then traveled across all southbound lanes of I-85 and came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the interstate. According to a press release on September 12th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Davis Country Rd., after getting a call that a suspect was actively stealing a forklift. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced they made arrest in two cases involving sex crimes against children earlier this month. According to a press release by the Sheriff's Office, the Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of Aaron Lee Barrett was possessing/distributing numerous child pornography files. Detectives initiated an investigation and on September 2, 2021, Mr. Barrett was taken into custody. Barrett was charged with ten counts of Felony Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor. That's according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on on August 7, 2021, deputies pulled over a car on I-73/74 just south of the US 64 Bypass. While the deputy was speaking with the passenger, the driver was seen throwing something it into the tall grassy area on the side of the highway. When deputies searched that area they found a firearm that had been reported stolen to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. Department of Transportation needs volunteers to help clean up trash along roads during the Adopt-A-Highway Fall Litter Sweep from Sept. 11-25. Each April and September, NCDOT asks volunteers to help remove litter from roadsides. Volunteers from local businesses, schools, nonprofits, churches, municipalities, law enforcement and community groups play an important role in keeping North Carolina’s roads clean.
