ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced today that they have arrested two individuals following investigations into sex crimes against minors. On October 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip about Kevin Lee Nunn that said he was receiving and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material.Deputies along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant was executed at Nunn’s home on November 5, 2021.The next day charges were sought for ten counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. At 2 AM on Sunday November 7th clocks will be set back 1 AM to repeat the hour. Originally started in the US in 1918 as a war-time measure to help conserve energy, the tradition stayed around after the war and is still going today. Does it actually conserve energy? ASHEBORO NC - Today, Randolph County Public Health (RCPH) announced they are now scheduling appointments for the Pfizer COVID-19 pediatric vaccine for children aged 5 through 11. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 for children 5 through 11 years of age on October 29th 201. According to the FDA website that authorization was based on the FDA’s thorough and transparent evaluation of the data that included input from independent advisory committee. The vaccine’s safety was studied in approximately 3,100 children age 5 through 11 who received the vaccine and no serious side effects have been detected in the ongoing study. ASHEBORO NC - The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a freeze warning from 2 AM to 10 AM on Friday. Temperatures as low as 30 degrees are expected in Randolph and surrounding counties. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service says now is the time to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

According to information released by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on October 30th 2021, their deputies were called to a citizens assist at a home one Grantville Lane in Asheboro. A citizen had found what appeared to be a bone in the subflooring of their home while remodeling and were concerned it was human. Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations responded and collected the object in question which was sent to the SBI lab in Raleigh for analysis and further investigation. Troopers investigate a single vehicle accident where a car flipped over and caught fire injuring one on Nov st 2021. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) TRINITY NC - One person was taken to the hospital after being involved in a single vehicle accident where the car flipped over and caught fire. Randolph County 911 received the first call about the accident at 1:19 PM on Nov 1st 2021. Callers reported a single vehicle accident on Covered Bridge Rd near Harris Rd in Trinity. They told dispatchers that a car had flipped over and was smoking. The sole occupant of the vehicle was a pregnant female who was able to safely get out. ASHEBORO NC – A man is in jail today after he led sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that ended in Montgomery County. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s office just after 11 PM on October 29th, 2021 they pulled over a driver just south of the Ulah Troy exit on I-73/74. Police say that as the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off getting back onto I-73/74 heading south.A vehicle pursuit ensued, with speeds reading almost 100 mph according to law enforcement radio traffic. The driver took the Seagrove exit, where according to the Sheriff’s office he briefly stopped at the top of the exit ramp and a passenger fled on foot.
