https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJj5LGrDqI8 ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS)- A water main break early Monday morning caused the tower on Church St to drain its more than 500,000 gallons in less than 30 mins.  City officials say they were made aware of the issue around 5:30 AM. The water main break caused a 5ft sinkhole to form at the base of the tower. That sinkhole formed directly under a cell tower utility building which caused it to fall into the hole. According to a press release on September 12th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Davis Country Rd., after getting a call that a suspect was actively stealing a forklift. Deputies arrived in the area and say they located the forklift traveling on Branson Davis Rd. toward Hwy 311 and were able to pull the driver over at the intersection of Branson Davis Rd. and Knoll Dr. Police identified the suspect as Robert Wayne Baxter who was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Jail. On May 22nd, 2021 we reported that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) had confirmed they had opened an investigation into allegations of misconduct made against Sheriff Seabolt. The investigation was requested on May 5th by Randolph County District Attorney Andy Gregson. Gregson said he received complaints that Sherriff Seabolt was using a county-issued vehicle to haul campaign signs. If you live in Randolph County chances are you found the first edition of the Randolph Hub in your mailbox last week. “We printed 46,238 for all residences in every ZIP code but the ones for Archdale and Trinity” said Ray Criscoe, the owner, publisher, and editor of the Randolph Hub. ASHEBORO NC - Two men have been arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.  In a press release the Sheriff’s Office says their Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of James Ben Card was possessing/distributing child pornography on social media. Detectives began investigating and were able to obtain a search warrant which they executed on August 19, 2021, at the residence. ASHEBORO NC - Police say the found drugs and a gun in the vehicle of a man with active warrants during a traffic stop near Asheboro last week. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on August 27th, 2021 deputies were called to assist the NC Highway Patrol. Troopers had pulled over a vehicle on I-73/74 near the Spero Rd. exit. Police say they identified the driver as Brandon Jamal Weaks. Police searched the vehicle and say the located marijuana, schedule II controlled substances, paraphernalia and a firearm. Weaks was placed under arrest and a check through Randolph County 911 found that Weaks had and Outstanding Order for Arrest for Failure to Appear out of Guilford County. ASHEBORO NC - Ken Jennings, the man who won 74 consecutive game of Jeopardy! is set to speak in Asheboro this weekend. A recent rule change removed the five consecutive games limit for winners which led to Jennings going on a 74-game victory streak winning an estimated $2.52 million. In 2020, he beat out Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer in the “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time."
