Murder Suspect Arrested After High Speed Chase

ASHEBORO NC - A murder suspect is in custody leading police on a high-speed chase through Randolph County overnight. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, March 25, 2021, at 2:09 AM, officers were dispatched to 340 Brookside Drive in Asheboro for a call about an unknown medical situation. When officers arrived they discovered 55-year-old Sherrie Shaw deceased in the residence. Investigators with Asheboro Police Dept began a homicide investigation. Local Man Charged With Animal Cruelty After Dead Dogs Found

ASHEBORO NC - A Randolph County man has been charged with multiple felonies for animal cruelty after police found 4 dogs who died from starvation on his property. On April 14, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was called to Kings Mountain Rd. in Asheboro to help Randolph County Animal Services who were checking on animals at a residence. Animal Services told deputies they had seen at least one dog deceased in a kennel and multiple dogs that appeared to be extremely malnourished inside the home when they looked in the window. According to information from the Randolph County Sherriff's Office the owner of the dogs, Michael Thomas Hamilton, Jr., had not been seen since Friday, April 9th. Road Construction Coming Soon As DOT Awards Repair Contracts

ASHEBORO NC - With spring well underway in North Carolina, nice weather brings with it the things North Carolinaians dred, pollen and road construction. According to a press release by NCDOT, they have awarded 4 contracts to repair 70 miles of roadways in central North Carolina, with many of those repairs here in Randolph County. The projects call for milling and resurfacing and in most locations shoulder grading or reconstruction. They are all either getting underway or set to begin as early as May 1. The contracts for Randolph County are: 23.4 miles along seven sections of U.S. 64 and eight sections of secondary roads. ASHEBORO NC - A man is facing charges after police say they found him passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle with a gun in his lap. According to information posted by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, on April 12, 2021, the deputies responded to assist troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in reference to a male driver who was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of US HWY 311 in Sophia.When officers arrived they say the found the man passed out behind the wheel with a firearm in his lap. Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriffs Office and Asheboro Police Department investigate a fatal shooting on Plummer St overnight. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting on Plummer Street in Asheboro. The arriving officers found three subjects at the home, all with gunshot wounds. According to a statement by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, 27-year old Robert Lewis Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other subjects were transported to nearby trauma hospitals. One subject is currently in surgery and the other is in stable condition.
