Randolph ER Locked Down After Crowd Gathered Following Shooting

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Randolph Hospital's Emergency Room was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday night after a large crowd gathered at the entrance where a victim was being treated following a shooting. According to police radio traffic, officers with the Asheboro Police Department at the Emergency Room requested backup to help with controlling a crowd of between 50-100 people growing angry and confrontational. Officers with the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, Randleman Police Department, and State Highway Patrol responded  emergency traffic. The Randolph County Sherriff's Office ERT (SWAT) team was alerted with some members also responded to the hospital. ASHEBORO NC - A multi-agency drug bust led to a Randleman home being searched ending with two individuals in federal custody. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, deputies with the Vice and Narcotics Division assisted by the Winston Salem Police Department, Asheboro Police Department, Randleman Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigation and US Drug Enforcement Administration concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Methamphetamine in the Randleman area. Juan Gabriel-Molina Gonzales ASHEBORO NC - A Texas man is facing felony drug trafficking charges after deputies say they found over 5 lbs. of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on March 11th, 2021, deputies with the Sherriff's Offices Highway Criminal Interdiction Team pulled over a vehicle on I-85 in Trinity that was registered out of Texas. At some point during the stop, deputies searched the vehicle and say they discovered approximately 2,376.5 grams (5.2 pounds) of Cocaine and US Currency. The driver of the vehicle, Juan Gabriel-Molina Gonzales, was transported to Randolph County Detention Center and charged with two counts of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine. A press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says the Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) division received information that an individual by the name of Justin Christopher McKinney was Disseminating Obscene Material to Minors. Trinity Man Dies After Being Struck On Hwy 62

ASHEBORO NC - A Trinity man was struck and killed on Hwy 62 Monday. According to the NC Highway Patrol at 10:23 AM on Monday, March 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to the report of a crash on N.C. Highway 62 near Colonial Circle in Trinity. Tyler Lee Gray, 30, of Trinity NC, had parked his 2007 Honda pickup towing a utility trailer on the westbound shoulder of Hwy 62, partially in the roadway. Gray and was outside of his vehicle. Lawrence Edward Walker, 80, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., was traveling west in a 2019 Ford SUV. When Walker attempted to pass Gray he was forced to swerve back into the westbound lane due to an oncoming eastbound vehicle and collided with Gray. Gray died at the scene. Walker was not injured, and charges are pending.

ASHEBORO NC - A Liberty man was arrested in a parking lot in Staley on drug trafficking charges. That's according to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on March 10th, 2021, the departments Vice and Narcotics Division concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Liberty / Staley area. Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Liberty. A search warrant was also executed on a vehicle that was parked at a business in Staley. During the search, detectives say they located and seized a trafficking amount of Cocaine, items of drug paraphernalia, and US Currency. LIBERTY NC.(NC DOT PRESS RELEASE)- State transportation maintenance crews need to close a section of N.C. 49 in Liberty for about two weeks to conduct an emergency replacement of a storm drain. The drain failed where it passes under the highway near South Valley Street on the eastern side of the town. Starting Monday, traffic will be detoured to follow East Dameron Avenue/Silk Hope Liberty Road, Hinshaw Shop Road and Staley Store Road/Town Country Road to access points on either side of the closure.
