ASHEBORO NC - A local man is in jail under a one million dollar bond after Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office say he was found with a missing/runaway child and child pornography. According to a press release by the The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, their Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip that an individual by the name of Ethan William Colbert was distributing child pornography and that he was engaged in sexual relationships with juvenile females. On August 16th, 2021, Deputies received a call about a missing/runaway child. The Sheriff’s office says that the child was located with Colbert. According to a press release on September 12th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Davis Country Rd., after getting a call that a suspect was actively stealing a forklift. Deputies arrived in the area and say they located the forklift traveling on Branson Davis Rd. toward Hwy 311 and were able to pull the driver over at the intersection of Branson Davis Rd. and Knoll Dr. Police identified the suspect as Robert Wayne Baxter who was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Jail. On May 22nd, 2021 we reported that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) had confirmed they had opened an investigation into allegations of misconduct made against Sheriff Seabolt. The investigation was requested on May 5th by Randolph County District Attorney Andy Gregson. Gregson said he received complaints that Sherriff Seabolt was using a county-issued vehicle to haul campaign signs. ASHEBORO NC - Two men have been arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.  In a press release the Sheriff’s Office says their Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of James Ben Card was possessing/distributing child pornography on social media. Detectives began investigating and were able to obtain a search warrant which they executed on August 19, 2021, at the residence. ASHEBORO NC - Police say the found drugs and a gun in the vehicle of a man with active warrants during a traffic stop near Asheboro last week. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on August 27th, 2021 deputies were called to assist the NC Highway Patrol. Troopers had pulled over a vehicle on I-73/74 near the Spero Rd. exit. Police say they identified the driver as Brandon Jamal Weaks. Police searched the vehicle and say the located marijuana, schedule II controlled substances, paraphernalia and a firearm. ASHEBORO NC – Police are saying that “Unsafe Footwear” is to blame after an elderly driver lost control, drove through the lawn next to the historic courthouse, before crashing into a stairwell. On August 25th, just after 2 PM, emergency crews were called to 145 Worth St in Asheboro near the historic courthouse for a report of a vehicle that had hit the building. When they arrived, they found a 2014 Toyota SUV with its airbags deployed wedged in the stairwell next to the courthouse. Acme News ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A vehicle chase which started in Asheboro ended in an arrest this evening. The Asheboro Police Department was not immediately available to comment. From 911 radio traffic we know the chase started in or near Asheboro and wound up on I-73/74 SB going for over 20 miles into Montgomery County, and reaching speeds of 120mph. Asheboro Police Department, Deputies with the Randolph & Montgomery County Sheriffs Office, and State Troopers with the NC Highway patrol were all involved. That's according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on on August 7, 2021, deputies pulled over a car on I-73/74 just south of the US 64 Bypass. While the deputy was speaking with the passenger, the driver was seen throwing something it into the tall grassy area on the side of the highway. ASHEBORO NC - A joint investigation between the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Asheboro Police Department has landed two people in jail on felony drug trafficking charges. In a press release, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says their Vice/Narcotics Unit and the Asheboro Police Departments Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a joint investigation into the distribution of Methamphetamine in the Asheboro area. On August 3rd that investigation led to a traffic stop of a car driven by Crystal Lilly Chiappini and Matthew Charles Chiappini, on I-73 in Randleman. Police say a search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding and seizing a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine.
