Around 1 AM, Randolph County 911 received a call about several shots being fired on Arrow St at the Town and Country Mobile Home Park on Hwy 64 West. According to police radio traffic, the caller reported someone was laying on the ground. ASHEBORO NC - A suspected prowler is in jail after being shot while trying to attack a homeowner Saturday afternoon. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, On May 29, 2021, deputies responded to a report of a prowler in the area of Post Rd in Tabernacle. A homeowner had called 911 to report a possible prowler and told police that a man was trespassing on their property and was told to leave.   After calling 911 the homeowner noticed the interior lights to their vehicle were on and went to check it out. ASHEBORO NC - A woman is recovering from surgery after being shot by her husband in the parking lot of an Asheboro apartment complex.  Barry Lynn Baxter Jr According to information released by the Asheboro Police Department, on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021, officers with the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to Ashewood Circle in reference to a report of a victim with an accidental gunshot wound. Officers found 55-year-old Deneene Lynn Baxter suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriffs Office and Asheboro Police Department investigate a fatal shooting on Plummer St overnight. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting on Plummer Street in Asheboro. The arriving officers found three subjects at the home, all with gunshot wounds. According to a statement by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, 27-year old Robert Lewis Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other subjects were transported to nearby trauma hospitals. One subject is currently in surgery and the other is in stable condition. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A second and likely related shooting in Asheboro left one dead Monday night. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Monday, March 22nd at 9:21 PM, officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr and Loach St in reference to a reported gunshot victim. Officials at the police department say the responding officers found a male subject who had been shot on the ground. Paramedics later declared the victim deceased at the scene. Detectives are on scene and investigating at this time. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating what led to a shooting that left a man in serious condition Sunday Night. According to Chief Mark Lineberry with the Asheboro Police Department, officers responded to calls of gunshots in the area near 401 East Salisbury St at 7:18 PM. As more 911 calls came in responding officers learned that a subject had been shot. Arriving officers say the 22-year-old Kalil Jabri Cuthrell with two gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and transported Cuthrell to Randolph Hospital, where he was later airlifted to a trauma center. He is currently listed in serious but stable condition. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Randolph Hospital's Emergency Room was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday night after a large crowd gathered at the entrance where a victim was being treated following a shooting. According to police radio traffic, officers with the Asheboro Police Department at the Emergency Room requested backup to help with controlling a crowd of between 50-100 people growing angry and confrontational. Officers with the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, Randleman Police Department, and State Highway Patrol responded  emergency traffic. DENTON NC - The Amber Alert issued for a missing 14-year-old from Davidson County has been canceled after she was located and will be returning to North Carolina after a harrowing experience.  Savannah Childress, was reported missing on Feb. 11 from her home in southern Davidson County. In the early morning hours of Jan. 7th, 2020, the suspect, twenty-one-year-old Troy Chase Caster, who was being sought by police in Rowan county for allegedly robbing a female cab driver at gunpoint led deputies on a chase from Rowan County through Stanly County and Davidson County and into Randolph County.
