ASHEBORO N.C. - A pedestrian was taken to the hospital late Saturday night after being struck by a driver off of Sunset Ave in Asheboro. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police Department, the collision occurred on Saturday Nov 13th 2021 just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Ave and Dixon St. Police say the driver, Juan Carlos De of Asheboro, was making a turn off of Sunset Ave and on to Dixon Ave when he struck a 68 year old male crossing the road heading home to the apartments on Sunset Ave. Police charged the driver with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and for driving without a license. Randolph County 911 received the first call about the accident at 1:19 PM on Nov 1st 2021. Callers reported a single vehicle accident on Covered Bridge Rd near Harris Rd in Trinity. They told dispatchers that a car had flipped over and was smoking. The sole occupant of the vehicle was a pregnant female who was able to safely get out. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) – A head on collision sent several people to the hospital and now police are looking for a the driver of one of the vehicles who fled the scene on foot. At 5:39 PM on Friday October 15th 2021, Randolph County 9-1-1 received more than half a dozen calls about a vehicle crash between two vehicles on Old Liberty Rd near Central Falls Rd. Asheboro Police and Fire departments along with Randolph County EMS and later Ash-Rand EMS were dispatched. In total 4 Ambulances (3 from Randolph County EMS and 1 from Ash-Rand) responded to the accident. ASHEBORO NC – Police are saying that “Unsafe Footwear” is to blame after an elderly driver lost control, drove through the lawn next to the historic courthouse, before crashing into a stairwell. On August 25th, just after 2 PM, emergency crews were called to 145 Worth St in Asheboro near the historic courthouse for a report of a vehicle that had hit the building. When they arrived, they found a 2014 Toyota SUV with its airbags deployed wedged in the stairwell next to the courthouse. According to a report by the North Carolina Highway Patrol all three vehicles involved were traveling northbound on I-73. The driver of the lead vehicle slowed down, due to a Christmas wreath in the roadway. The car behind failed to reduce speed and collided with rear passenger side of the first car. A teenage driver has been charged after running into the side of a business last Friday. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A teenage driver has been charged after running into the side of a business last Friday. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police department, a vehicle was pulling into a parking space in front of The Business Center on N Fayetteville St in Asheboro. The report says the driver applied the gas pedal instead of the brake resulting in the vehicle jumping over the curb and striking the building. The driver, 18-year-old Johthan Camacho of Asheboro was cited for Unsafe Movement. No one was injured in the accident, but the damage to the business was estimated at $5,000 with an additional $3,000 worth of damage to the vehicle.

On April 29th, 2021, at around 3:30 PM, first responders were called to a home on Miles Moffitt Rd. in Asheboro. Radio traffic from Randolph county 911 reported a three-year-old had been struck by a vehicle. Information later released by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office said the child was accidentally injured when an "inexperienced individual was moving a vehicle in the yard and the vehicle made contact with the child before eventually came to a stop after hitting the house causing structural damage."
