Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Raleigh have issued a Hazardous weather outlook for central North Carolina, with a storms, excessive rainfall, and heat all forecasted for Wednesday and Thursday. ASHEBORO N.C. - Forecasters with the National Weather Service office in Raleigh are warning of the possibility of severe thunderstorms starting this evening and continuing into Friday. Credit NOAA/NWS In the latest weather briefing the NWS say that showers and thunderstorms, will mainly impact the western part of the state, with some weaker storms reaching the Triad this evening. Strong to severe showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain, will move across the area in multiple rounds on Friday and Friday evening. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is calling for thunderstorms across all of North Carolina over the weekend. According to forecasters a stalled offshore low pressure system will finally begin to move inland bringing showers and thunderstorms across all of North Carolina over the weekend. ASHEBORO N.C. - Forecasters are warning of a slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon as a cold front responsible for damaging storms approaches the Triad. A few strong storms are possible this afternoon through early evening (mainly after 4pm) as a cold front enters the Triad and encounters warm moist air. That front has already weakened and it is expected to weaken even more as it passes over the mountains. Still forecasters are saying that damaging straight line winds of up to 60 mph with hail up to an inch in diameter are still possible. Storms are expected to clear the area by late tonight, between 11 pm and midnight, but the cold front will push temperatures down overnight with lows around 49 F with winds 6 to 8 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. ...

ASHEBORO N.C. - A period of light freezing rain this morning has triggered closing and delays across Randolph County. As of this morning both Asheboro City Schools as well as Randolph County Schools have announced they will be closed today. Randolph Community College is set to operate on a two hour delay. RCAT for Randolph County has also announced that they will not be operating today. (sima / Adobe Stock) ASHEBORO N.C. — After a week and a half of unusually warm temperatures that had many of us were checking our calendar to make sure it said December, temperatures are set to plunge Sunday night with even a possible chance to see some snow Monday morning. According to a forecast from the National Weather Service in Raleigh, Sunday highs are expected to be around 69° F with lows Sunday night plunging down to 32° F. Monday forecasters are calling for a 30% chance of rain and/or snow followed by sunny conditions with a high of 45° F. Temperatures Monday night are expected to drop even further reaching down to 24° F. Freeze Warning Issued For Randolph County For Friday

ASHEBORO NC - The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a freeze warning from 2 AM to 10 AM on Friday. Temperatures as low as 30 degrees are expected in Randolph and surrounding counties. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service says now is the time to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
