Liberty Man Arrested On Trafficking Charges

ASHEBORO NC - A Liberty man was arrested in a parking lot in Staley on drug trafficking charges. That's according to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on March 10th, 2021, the departments Vice and Narcotics Division concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Liberty / Staley area. Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Liberty. A search warrant was also executed on a vehicle that was parked at a business in Staley. During the search, detectives say they located and seized a trafficking amount of Cocaine, items of drug paraphernalia, and US Currency. According to Michael Smith, assistant chief and fire investigator with the Randleman Fire Department while the investigation is still underway he is confident that a water heater malfunction is to blame for starting the fire. Smith says he is waiting on a few final pieces of information including video surveillance footage before making his determination final. Highway Patrol At 11:01 AM on Monday, February 22, 2021, Troopers attempted to stop a 1995 Honda passenger car for speeding. The driver Mary Etta Pennell, 35, of Greensboro N.C., fled from the trooper before losing control of the vehicle and traveling off the roadway to the right, and colliding with a tree near the Flag Springs United Methodist Church on Zoo Parkway. DENTON NC - The Amber Alert issued for a missing 14-year-old from Davidson County has been canceled after she was located and will be returning to North Carolina after a harrowing experience.  Savannah Childress, was reported missing on Feb. 11 from her home in southern Davidson County. An Amber Alert was issued on Feb 15th  Investigators had discovered that Savannah was using her Davidson County Schools issued computer to communicate with an individual using multiple online platforms. As the investigation progressed investigators discovered the same individual was also talking to several other juvenile females in Alamance County. ASHEBORO NC - Officials have released the name of the victim of a fatal house fire in Denton on Thursday. According to a statement from the Randolph County Sheriff's office fire crews from Randolph and Davidson counties were called to a report of a house fire at 7026 Canaan Church Rd., in Denton. Initial reports from 911 calls indicated someone was possibly still inside the house. Fire crews arrived to find the home heavily involved with fire. While working to put out the fire, firefighters found the body of a male in the living room of the home. investigators with the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was accidental and caused by an electric space heater. ASHEBORO NC - A man is in jail in connection to the theft of a tractor. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on October 12th, of 2020 deputies responded to a call about a stolen Kubota tractor on Tobacco Rd. in Trinity. The Randolph County Sherriff's Office released surveillance camera photos that showed a tall white male with a white truck and a trailer and asked for help from the public. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 2:13 AM, Asheboro Police Officers responded to 408 E. Salisbury Street for a subject who had been shot. Officers on scene learned that the crime scene was located at 612 Farr Street in Asheboro.
