ASHEBORO NC - A Florida man is in jail after kidnapping a woman at gunpoint and leading police in a high-speed chase vehicle chase Saturday afternoon. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, at around 1:42 PM, a 31-year-old female was kidnapped at gunpoint while sitting in a vehicle on Coleridge Rd in Asheboro. The suspect who police identified as 32-year-old Manuel Jesus Robles from Ocala, Florida, allegedly "forced the woman into a vehicle owned by the victim, which had been stolen earlier" according to a statement issued by the department. Suspect Wanted For Murder After Asheboro Stabbing

ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating a suspect wanted in connection to a murder. According to a press release on Saturday, April 3, 2021, deputies received a call about a stabbing at 219 Emmanuel Church Road in Asheboro. The deputies arrived and located Harold Stephen King who was deceased inside the residence. The press releases says an investigation led them to a suspect identified as Brian Cody King, who deputies believe had stabbed the victim and then left with a female. Several hours later, the female King had left with was dropped off at an unnamed location in Thomasville, where she then called 911. Between March 27 through April 11, students will participate in this exercise before graduating the course and moving on to their first assignments in the Army's Special Forces community. Robin Sage is a two-week culmination exercise. The participants are students at the U.S. Army John F. Asheboro Man Charged With Kidnapping / Sexually Abusing Child

ASHEBORO NC - An Asheboro man was has been charged with kidnapped and sexually abused a child. According to police reports Justine Wayne Queen was arrested on Thursday, March 18th. Queen has been charged with felony first-degree kidnapping and seven counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child less than 15. Queen is being held at the Randolph County Jail under a $1 million secured bond.

ASHEBORO NC - Good news today for those who are still waiting for their spot in line for the COVID-19 vaccine. Randolph County Public Health announced Wednesday that they will be moving into Group 5. Group 5 includes "everyone who wants a safe and effective vaccine”. Public health officials are still encouraging and giving preference to Groups 1-4, individuals for group 5 who are 16 years or older can now begin scheduling appointments. To schedule a vaccination appointment, call 336-365-6110. The vaccine appointment line is open Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. when appointments are available.

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating what led to a shooting that left a man in serious condition Sunday Night. According to Chief Mark Lineberry with the Asheboro Police Department, officers responded to calls of gunshots in the area near 401 East Salisbury St at 7:18 PM. As more 911 calls came in responding officers learned that a subject had been shot. Arriving officers say the 22-year-old Kalil Jabri Cuthrell with two gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and transported Cuthrell to Randolph Hospital, where he was later airlifted to a trauma center. He is currently listed in serious but stable condition. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Randolph Hospital's Emergency Room was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday night after a large crowd gathered at the entrance where a victim was being treated following a shooting. According to police radio traffic, officers with the Asheboro Police Department at the Emergency Room requested backup to help with controlling a crowd of between 50-100 people growing angry and confrontational. Officers with the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, Randleman Police Department, and State Highway Patrol responded  emergency traffic. The Randolph County Sherriff's Office ERT (SWAT) team was alerted with some members also responded to the hospital. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, deputies with the Vice and Narcotics Division assisted by the Winston Salem Police Department, Asheboro Police Department, Randleman Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigation and US Drug Enforcement Administration concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Methamphetamine in the Randleman area. Juan Gabriel-Molina Gonzales ASHEBORO NC - A Texas man is facing felony drug trafficking charges after deputies say they found over 5 lbs. of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on March 11th, 2021, deputies with the Sherriff's Offices Highway Criminal Interdiction Team pulled over a vehicle on I-85 in Trinity that was registered out of Texas. At some point during the stop, deputies searched the vehicle and say they discovered approximately 2,376.5 grams (5.2 pounds) of Cocaine and US Currency. The driver of the vehicle, Juan Gabriel-Molina Gonzales, was transported to Randolph County Detention Center and charged with two counts of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine.
