(Scott Pelkey /Acme News) ASHEBORO NC - You can now visit the NC Zoo without a reservation, and its just in time to catch a glimpse of the Zoo's newest animals. On June 29th the NC Zoo announced they would resume normal operations, with no capacity limits, starting July 1st, 2021. Both the North America and Africa entrances and parking lots will be open daily along with all indoor buildings, which includes habitats, restaurants, and gift shops. The Zoo has dropped it requirement for face coverings, but they are still required on the Giraffe Deck which is back open along with most all of the Zoo's seasonal attractions, including the Carousel, Kaleidoscope Butterfly Garden, Treehouse Trek, and Zoofari. ASHEBORO NC - Randolph Health has announced they will again be easing visitor restrictions at Randolph Hospital. The new visitation guidelines began on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 7 a.m. This is the second time this year that Randolph Health has scaled back restrictions put in place since it began to accept low-level COVID-19 patients in December of last year.  The new guidelines extend the number of hours visitors are allowed, increase the number of visitors allowed at one time, and add new rules for maternity patients. The vaccine clinic toured by the Governor is one of two clinics that the NC Zoo is hosting as of NCDHHS’ Bring Summer Back campaign. So far, more than 220 organizations have joined the Bring Back Summer campaign, which has reached an estimated 1.3 million North Carolinians. The clinics are a collaboration with Randolph County Health Department, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and StarMed.  Anyone ages 12 and older can get their first or second Pfizer vaccine, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available for those 18 and older. ASHEBORO NC - Good news today for those who are still waiting for their spot in line for the COVID-19 vaccine. Randolph County Public Health announced Wednesday that they will be moving into Group 5. Group 5 includes "everyone who wants a safe and effective vaccine”. Public health officials are still encouraging and giving preference to Groups 1-4, individuals for group 5 who are 16 years or older can now begin scheduling appointments. To schedule a vaccination appointment, call 336-365-6110. The vaccine appointment line is open Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. when appointments are available.

ASHEBORO NC - Randolph County Public Health announced on Facebook today that they have new appointments for the COVID-19 available for the following dates: Wednesday, March 17 from 5-7 pmThursday, March 18 from 8:30-4:30Friday, March 19 from 8:30-4:30 These appointments are for anyone in Groups 1 - 3 which includes frontline healthcare workers, the elderly 65 and older, education workers, and frontline essential workers. Those in Group 4 who have a medical condition that puts them at higher risk and people who live in additional congregate settings are also eligible for the vaccine. ASHEBORO NC - It's almost time for a second shot for thousands of people in Randolph County who were vaccinated at the mass vaccination clinic last month.  A second clinic is scheduled for Saturday, February 6th, 2021, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Africa Entrance of the North Carolina Zoo according to a press release by Randolph Health. The clinic will be administering second doses only for those individuals who received their first dose during the mass vaccination clinics on January 16 & 17, 2021 at the previous clinic held the North Carolina Zoo. ASHEBORO NC [ARCHIVED]- In a public service announcement released on Friday, January 8th, the Randolph County Health Department announced that it is now taking appointments for Phase 1b - Group 1 as well as a new vaccine appointment line to call. Under the vaccine plan the county is following, Phase 1a and Phase 1b, Group 1 are currently eligible for COVID-19 vaccines. These two groups include "Health care workers fighting COVID-19 & Long-Term Care staff and residents" and "Adults 75 years or older and frontline essential workers".
